TruEnergy Installs TRIPLE the number of meters targeted for 2024

TruEnergy has had a stellar year in 2024 for their smart meter rollout, onboarding with a new meter operators SMS to achieve new heights of service and excellence, the metering team at Tru smashed through their target installs by Q2 of 2024, and by the end of the calendar year have installed more than 3x the number of electricity Smets2 meters than they targeted through the year.

At the start of 2024 the Ofgem targeted meter installs for Domestic properties were 608 electricity meters to be installed at relevant premises with 657 gas meters to be installed. Relevant premises here refers to any properties that have not had any SMETS smart or advanced meters installed previously.

It is with great pleasure we can confirm in 2024 Truenergy installed more than 1889 Electricity SMETS2 Smart meters & 1602 Gas SMETS2 Smart Meters.

On the non-domestic side TruEnergy didn’t have a target install for installing advanced electricity meters. Nevertheless we still achieved a total of 65 SMETS2 electricity meter installations for our business customers in 2024

We did have a target for installing 12 advanced gas meters for our domestic properties, we almost quadrupled this target, installing a total of 80 SMETS2 gas meters for our business customers.

Not only did our team succeed in the volume of smart meters installed, thanks to great work by our engineering partners at SMS and the smart communications team at Tru, 91.2% of all smart meter installations were commissioned successfully on the day, which is above the national average

2024 has been such a successful year for Truenergy, looking ahead to our fourth rollout year we do not have a target for installations of Smets2 electricity meters. That’s right, the target for electricity installations in both domestic and non-domestic properties given by Ofgem for 2025 is: 0. That said, we still have a strong internal target of increasing the percentage of smart meters installed across our portfolio by 10% by the end of 2025, to bring our total smart electricity meters to over 85% smart!

For our gas meter installations, TruEnergy does have a target install, and using the new technology available to us to allow for gas smart meters in properties previously ineligible for smart, we have a target to install 1541 Smets2 gas meters in domestic properties in 2025. For our business customers, we also have a target of 8 advanced meters to install across the portfolio.

Onwards & upwards!
